Events at the Fall River Public Library the Week of June 8

The Fall River Public Library has announced its latest events taking place from June 8 through June 14,

The Fall River Public Library has a full lineup of special events happening throughout June! In addition to our regular, recurring events, here is a list of special events occurring during the second week of June:

Tuesday, June 9th at 1pm: Community Resource Day (new recurring event)

Every two weeks, join the library and several community partners for our community resource day! Organizations will be on hand to provide information and assistance for various community needs such as healthcare, homelessness, immigration, mental health issues, food insecurity, and more. This event is open to all members of the public and no registration is required. This event will take place in the meeting room.

Tuesday, June 9th at 5pm: Listening Session with GBH Reporters

All Fall River residents are invited to an informal chat about all things Fall River with reporters from GBH. Want to highlight something concerning, or awesome, happening in our community? Now is your chance to share and chat about whatever you’d like! Listen, ask questions, discuss, and be heard. This event will take place in the meeting room.

Thursday, June 11th at 5:30pm: YA Comics Club Makes Pride Zines

Summer Zine-ing is here! This month we’ll learn how to make easy, long cut zines, just in time for Pride! What is a zine?? Zines are small, handmade, DIY booklets you can make and photocopy to give out to friends and family. You can put drawings, collages, writing, and everything in between in a zine! You’ll also get to take home free, pride-themed zines to read over the summer! This event will be held in the Nagle Room. Thursday, June 11th at 6:30pm: Doctor Finnegan’s Circus

Doctor Finnegan’s Circus is a comedy circus troupe specializing in American sideshow style entertainment. This elite trio is headed by Doctor Finnegan and features the amazing talents of Chip Rascal and The Reverend Sean Theroux. No registration is required for this all ages event which will take place in the meeting room.

Friday, June 12th at 2:30pm: Vintage Bottle Sand Art

Remember when everyone made sand art in the 90s? It’s back but this time it’s for adults! Join us on the library lawn to create your own colorful layered sand art bottle during this relaxing summer craft program. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved to the meeting room. Supplies are limited; register by calling the circulation desk at 508-324-2700 x 2.

Saturday, June 13th at 11am: Bookmobile at Kick-Off to Summer

Start the Summer off right with the Bookmobile at RE-CREATION’s annual Kick-Off to Summer party at Ruggles Park! This event is free to the public and will include food & beverages, rock climbing, face painting, resource tables, and more. The bookmobile will be open to the public for anyone who is interested in signing up for a library card and getting some books. Families are invited to join us for stories and a fun, easy to do craft!
