The city of Fall River is using reserve funds to pay for snow removal costs from this past winter.
The city took over $3.1 million from its stabilization account to pay for snow removal after two major storms in January and the blizzard in February. In an unusual move, the city did not receive reimbursement from federal emergency disaster relief funds.
The city is planning for the upcoming winter season and has devised a plan to recruit private snow crews to clean city streets.
Interested snowplow or hauling services can apply to help the city by contacting the mayor’s office.
