The City of Fall River will be offering cooling centers as the region braces for what could be record-breaking heat later this week.

(FALL RIVER, MA- June 29, 2026)- Mayor Paul E. Coogan announces a cooling center at Fall River Government Center due to the extreme heat expected in the area.
The cooling center will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 2nd and Friday, July 3rd, 2026. The cooling center will be located in the Government Center Cafeteria and can be accessed through the cafeteria entrance.
Additionally, a cooling center will be open at Steppingstone Inc., located at 134 Durfee Street, Fall River, MA 02720, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 4th, 2026.
Due to the high temperatures, we want to remind Fall River residents to check on family, friends, and neighbors. Drink plenty of water, stay indoors in a cool area when possible, and avoid strenuous activity if you have health conditions that may be affected by the heat.
