An article by the Fall River Reporter has local officials questioning whether social service agencies serving people in recovery are fully meeting their mission.
The report showed what was included in what are called harm reduction bags, which include needles and other paraphernalia, given to people battling substance addiction.
The bags appear to include items that some say could assist in one’s addiction.
The city council took up the issue at Tuesday’s meeting. Council President Cliff Ponte filed a resolution asking for an explanation from those distributing the bags.
Mayor Paul Coogan says the city does not fund organizations that distribute the bags.
