Many of us are old enough to remember spending time at Dave’s Beach on the South Wautuppa Pond. The area had been abandoned for some time but a coalition of city officials, veterans groups and private donors have turned a portion of the site into a family picnic area.
City Councilor Linda Pereira took the lead on the project.
The area comprises over a dozen picnic tables and space for other recreational activities.
The picnic area will have its grand opening this Saturday, July 31 at noon, with the public invited to attend.
