Lt. Governor Announces Gateway City Housing Tax Credits, Tours Bristol Community College

Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll was in Fall River today to announce the next round of funding to create more housing in Gateway Cities.

The Housing Development Incentive Program (HDIP) dedicates $30 million annually to provide tax credits for Gateway Cities. The announcement of the latest award recipients was made inside a building at 84 North Main Street, adjacent to the Fall River Public Library.

The building is being developed by local business owner Monte Ferris, who says government support is vital in salvaging historic structures.

Mr. Ferris says projects like his can re-ignite interest in a neighborhood.

The Lt Governor also spent time today at Bristol Community College, the final stop in her quest to visit all 29 state colleges and universities. She toured the Fall River Campus and touted the benefits of the Bright Act, which will fund public higher education infrastructure projects across Massachusetts.
