City Council Proposes Cracking Down on Excess Trash Carts and Creating an Online City Spending Portal

The Fall River City Council last night approved two resolutions: one to save money on trash disposal and another creating an online portal for residents to track city spending.

Trash collection and disposal costs in Fall River are an ongoing concern for city officials. The council currently plans to eliminate pick-up from residences with more than four units. Councilor Michelle Dionne thinks an alternative could be curtailing the number of city-issued trash bins.

Also last night, City Councilor Michal Canuel proposed the administration follow the lead of other communities in hosting a public online portal that provides greater transparency on how Fall River spends its tax dollars.

Both resolutions will be discussed with the administration at a future city council Finance Committee meeting.
