This year, the Fall River School Department moved its entire pre-K program into leased space at the former Bishop Connolly High School on Elsbree Street. Earlier this year, the school committee and city council gave the city the go-ahead to negotiate with the Diocese of Fall River to purchase the school.
Mayor Paul Coogan says the process is moving forward.
The proposed cost to purchase Bishop Connolly is reported to be $29 million. Once under city control, it plans to spend an additional $20 million for renovations.
