Fall River Police Chief Kelly Furtado announced last week that she is on leave and intends to retire on June 1. She has appointed Deputy Chief J.T. Hoar to serve as acting chief.
We spoke to the acting chief this week. He says he wants to manage the department based on a simplified mission.
The acting chief appreciated Chief Furtado’s work and pledged to carry on many of her initiatives.
