The city of Fall River wants to make one of its parks more inclusive for children. It plans to spend approximately $600,000 in Community Development and state parks grant funds to build a sensory playground at Abbott Court.
The inspiration for the park came from South End resident Marcel Riley, who built a miniature sensory park in his backyard for his daughter Mae, a child with autism.
Along with grant money, fundraisers for the park are being planned for later this fall and winter. Construction of the playground is expected to begin next spring.
