Steppingstone, Inc’s First Step Inn homeless shelter is as busy as ever this summer.
Rosa Tavares oversees the shelter’s operation. She says even though the organization has increased its capacity to 50 beds year-round, there is a long waiting list of those seeking shelter.
This Saturday the shelter is hosting its annual Get Steppin 5K walk. The fundraiser raises awareness of homelessness in Fall River while raising funds to sustain the shelter’s operations.
The First Step Inn seeks a $15 donation from walkers. Walk-up registrations will be accepted.
