Fall River families are encouraged to bring their children, with their bikes or other personal modes of transportation, to Father Trvassos Park Saturday from 1 pm to 3 pm as Mass in Motion Fall River sponsors its next Traffic Garden demonstration.
Saturday’s event will include information from the Fall River Police Department and other community partners on bike safety. There will also be a bike fleet for children who do not own a bike to share.
Among the event’s collaborators is SSTAR’s Building our Lives Determined, Empowered and Resilient (BOLDER) Coalition, which will promote its message of substance use prevention and positive youth development through its MeB4Use campaign. SSTAR Manager of Prevention Services Alyssa Soares says the traffic garden is an opportunity for youth to become engaged within the community.
Saturday’s event is the second pop-up traffic garden activity in Fall River…with over 100 participants at the inaugural event last October. It is hoped that a traffic garden someday will be a permanent fixture in Fall River.
